Dr. Patrick Marsch, Deutsche Bahn AG, Germany
Patrick Marsch received his Dipl.-Ing. and Dr.-Ing. degrees from Technische Universität Dresden, Germany, in 2004 and 2010, respectively.He was the technical project coordinator of the project EASY-C, where the world’s largest research test beds for LTE-Advanced were established. After heading a research group at TU Dresden, Germany, and leading radio research and system engineering departments in NSN, later Nokia and Nokia Bell Labs for almost 7 years, he is now Senior Project Manager, Digital Rail at Deutsche Bahn AG. He has (co-)authored 60+ journal and conference papers, has received four best paper awards, been editor of or contributor to several books and has been awarded the Philipp Reis Prize for pioneering research in the field of Coordinated Multi-Point (CoMP). Patrick has co-organized multiple IEEE workshops, for instance having been general chair of the BWA workshop at Globecom 2013, and has initiated the URLLC (formerly ULTRA2) workshop series at Globecom.

Dr. Meryem Simsek, Technische Universität Dresden, Germany
Meryem Simsek received her Dipl.-Ing. degree in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology from University of Duisburg-Essen in 2008, holding a scholarship from the German National Academic Foundation which is granted to the outstanding 0.5% of all students in Germany. She obtained her Ph.D. degree from the same university in 2013. Since 2014, she is a group leader at the Vodafone Chair Mobile Communication Systems at the Technical University Dresden, Germany. Her main research interests include radio resource management in HetNets, 5G wireless systems, game theory, reinforcement learning, and the tactile internet. Meryem won the IEEE Communications Society Fred W. Ellersick Prize 2015. In June 2015, she applied for the IEEE ETC technical sub-committee ‘The Tactile Internet’ which has been accepted and which she is chairing.

Prof. Dr. Hans Schotten, University of Kaiserslautern, Germany
Hans D. Schotten received the Diploma and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Aachen University of Technology RWTH, Germany in 1990 and 1997, respectively. He held positions as senior researcher, project manager, and head of research groups at the Aachen University of Technology, Ericsson Corporate Research, and Qualcomm Corporate R&D. At Qualcomm he was Director for Technical Standards and research coordinator for Qualcomm’s participation in national and European research programs. He was company representative at WWRF, EICTA, bmco forum and European technology platforms. Since August 2007, he has been full professor and head of the Chair for Wireless Communication and Navigation at the University of Kaiserslautern. Since 2012, he has additionally been Scientific Director at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence heading the “Intelligent Networks” department.

Prof. Preben Mogensen, Nokia Bell Labs, Denmark
Preben Mogensen received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from Aalborg University in 1988 and 1996,respectively. Since 2000, he has been professor at Aalborg University and leading the RadioAccess Technology Section. Dr. Mogensen is also a part time associate with Nokia Bell Labsin a role of principal engineer and Nokia Fellow. His research interests are within mobile broadband communication.

Dr. Peter Fertl, BMW Group Research and Technology, Germany
Peter Fertl received the Dipl.-Ing. and Dr. techn. degrees in electrical/communicationengineering from Vienna University of Technology, Austria, in 2005 and 2009, respectively.During 2006 – 2009 he was a research and teaching assistant at the Institute of Communicationsand Radio-Frequency Engineering, Vienna University of Technology, with focus on wirelessmulti-user multi-antenna communications and relay networks. During July – September 2007Dr. Fertl served as a visiting researcher at Nokia Research Center, Helsinki workingon relaying techniques. Since 2010, Dr. Fertl holds a position as research specialistat BMW Group Research and Technology in the area of next-generation wirelesscommunication systems with focus on future automotive connectivity and system architectures.
